Early Learning Center

From Learning to Crawl, Walk and Talk to Developing Communication and Problem-Solving Skills, Each Child has a Unique Timetable

Our relationship-based teaching approach strives to cultivate a community of caring as well as optimize individual well-being. We understand that young children build the foundation for later academic success through hands-on, play-based experiences, daily routines, and caring interactions. In order to thrive, students need safe, nurturing, creative environments designed for exploration and learning.

In order to fully support, develop and build reciprocal relationships with students and families, the ELC uses a "continuity of care" model. Continuity of care provides the opportunity for primary care teachers, children and their families, to build close, caring relationships over time. The relationship evolves and is deepened between the teacher, child and their family. When primary care teachers experience continuity of care, they are better able to learn about each child's interests and skills, and therefore support areas of development. Teachers build on this knowledge to provide the highest quality of care and education, working in partnership with families to achieve individualized goals. Each year, teachers move with their group of students to a developmentally appropriate classroom, completing a 2- to 3-year loop with "their" group of students. Classroom placements are determined by and consistent with this model.

The ELC's daily curriculum and planned educational environments are designed to support learning in all areas of development. Cognitive, social-emotional, language and physical development are fostered naturally through intentional planning, thoughtful interactions, and play-based educational experiences. While we know that no teacher or caregiver can replace the love and understanding of a parent, we believe that as a partner in your child's growth, we have a primary responsibility to respect, support and promote your child's sense of self!
